The aims of the conference was to bring together experts in Cervids (with emphasis on the Genus Cervus) from all over the world to present and discuss their latest work. A wealth of studies have been recently carried out or are in progress on the genetics, ecology and behaviour of the Genus Cervus. Some of these are still unpublished and their results could stimulate interesting discussions. Furthermore, the correct management for conservation or hunting of some Cervus species calls for sound – possibly novel – information on their biology. Participants was especially encouraged to present their results on the relationships between management and biological issues.
The Congress included oral and poster presentations. English was the official language for all oral and poster presentations. Simultaneous translation was guaranteed during the conference. Lo scopo del Convegno - svoltosi a Primiero dal 14 al 17 settembre 2007 - č stato quello di riunire esperti in Cervidi appartenenti al genere Cervus da tutte le parti del mondo per presentare e discutere i loro lavori. Un buon numero di studi č stato portato avanti nel campo della genetica, dell’ecologia e del comportamento sul genere Cervus. Alcuni di questi lavori sono ancora non pubblicati e i loro risultati potrebbero stimolare interessanti discussioni. Inoltre, la corretta gestione per la conservazione o/e la caccia di alcune specie di Cervus richiede informazioni – possibilmente originali – sulla loro biologia. I partecipanti al Convegno sono stati incoraggiati a presentare i loro risultati riguardo il rapporto tra gestione e biologia.
Il Convegno ha incluso sia comunicazioni orali che presentazione di poster. L’Inglese č stata la lingua ufficiale per le comunicazioni orali e i poster. Era stata garantita la traduzione simultanea dall’Inglese all’Italiano per tutte e 3 le giornate. In questa sezione č possibile consultare il Programma del Convegno e gli abstracts presentati.
